Membership Q&A

Updated 1/27/2008

Q.    I am new to the area I do not know anyone who could act as a sponsor. How would you suggest I proceed with applying for membership?
A.    The purpose of a sponsor is to have someone who is already a member in good standing, and who knows you personally, to stand up and say "I know this is a person of good character and would make an excellent member" (or words like that).

We understand that not all applicants would know at the time of their application, a current member of the club who could act as the sponsor.  In these cases, we ask that you simply write a one page introduction describing your interests, shooting experience, other clubs you are a member of, or anything else you feel is important, and mail in that page along with your application.

Q.    Did dues go up?

A.    Yes.  At the Oct. 2007 general membership meeting, members voted unanimously to increase Regular dues to by $10/year to $170, to meet increased expenses.  Associate and student membership also increased by $10.

Q.    I'm a senior member.  Do I have to pay the optional $75 senior dues?

A.    No, any senior dues are optional, as indicated.  If you are comfortable with the payment, the club could use the money.  If you aren't comfortable, send what you can; any donation is well appreciated.  Please be sure to indicate on your renewal form the amount you are submitting.

Q.    I am qualified on the indoor pistol range.  Why do I have to pay $25 a year.

A.    Maintaining the indoor range over the years has become increasingly expensive, especially considering this year's oil costs.  The additional money goes toward this maintenance.

Q.    I've been a member for 30 years, and turned 65 years this year.  How do I become a senior member?

A.    2005 By-laws state:

"Senior membership shall be a regular member who joined the PF&G prior to March 22, 2005, who has reached the age of sixty-five (65), and who has been a regular member in good standing for the preceding five (5) consecutive years ..."

If you fit these criteria, you may become a senior member.  Indicate your wishes on the Renewal Form and return it with the optional $75 Senior's dues contribution and any applicable fees such as that for indoor pistol.

Q.    When should I expect to receive my new membership badge?

A.    Badges should start shipping in the second week of December.  The sooner you send in your renewal, the sooner you'll get your new badge.  You should receive your card within a few weeks of returning your renewal form.
